Wall to be constructed along coastline

CHENNAI, DEC. 27. A wall will be constructed soon along the coastline from Palavakkam up to a distance of 30 km, to protect those living close to the shore from nature's fury, a release from the Union Surface Transport Minister, T.R.Baalu, said today. Mr. Baalu after inspecting Palavakkam, Kottivakkam, Neelangarai, Sozhinganallur, Kudimiyandithoppu, Panayur and Vettuvankeni, on Sunday, said that the wall would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 1 crore. The release said he consoled those who lost their family members.

A competitor to the Great Wall of China? How far into the sea, maybe this will be a tourist attraction? Build a wall and have the fisherfolk build hpmes on the wall?
